Let’s continue with the presentation of the extraordinary speakers that you are going to meet the 4th of June at Frontiers.

Today it’s time to introduce you  Roberto Siagri, CEO and founder of Eurotech, who’s going to talk about Economics for startups.

To give you goosebumps: Eurotech is the company that developed weareable computer (used by army, firebrigade and civil defense), one of the most powerful supercomputer in the world, Aurora, and developed the Dynavox Xress, a PDA that allows people affected by autism, ALS, cerebral palsy, stroke, brain injury or Down syndrome to communicate and participate in the classroom and in work settings.

He has a vision – about future, about how technology is going to be a fundamental component of our everyday life: he believes that we’re going te develop a deep connection with machines, and this change is already started. Think about how social network are part of our daily life, a major change that it’s  due to mobile devices: Roberto strongly belives that we’re evolving, from Homo Sapiens to Homo Zapiens, a man that will be  intimately connected with devices and informations, and this is one of the reasons he’s develpoing “pervasive computation”.

But if you want to know more, let’s talk about another amazing aspect of Roberto’s life: his startupper experience.

Roberto achieved a degree in Physics at the University of Trieste in 1986, discussing a thesis on Material Structure and in1992, in a small town called Amaro, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, with a bunch o friend, he founded Eurotech.

From a small town  in Udine’s discrict, now Roberto’s company is a worldwide leader in high tech and nanoPC, with offices in USA, Japan, China, Uk… (should I go on?).

In November 2006 he received Ernst & Young’s 2006 Entrepreneur of the Year in the Finance category.

In addition to his many commitments within the Eurotech Group he is a member of the Italy-Japan Business Group as well as a member of the Advisory Board of The University of Padova’s  School of EconomicsAs President and co-founder of Eurotech SpA, he is responsible for strategic planning, new business models and the internationalization of the company.

He also collaborates with the Department of Electrical, Managerial and Mechanical Engineering of the University of Udine where he also taught Digital Systems Electronics. His expertise in topics related to innovation, technological research and entrepreneurship make him a sought after speaker at conferences in Italy and throughout the world.
