Frontiers first workshop: Geek Advertising

editorial board – 09/03/2010

As you know, the Conference is going to take place on the 4th of June, but for the 3rd, Frontiers has put on four workshops: let’s talk in deep of the first one, Geek Advertising.

Understanding the future of advertising is extremely important, because it will tell us how brands will approach to customers, how Value will be generated and how all these aspects will interact and are going to be meaningfull for us.

On this occasion you will touch the most recent technology about augmented reality – but it’s not just about devices or tools: augmented reality will be related to advertising, and the discussion is going to  include also communication and marketing shifts.

This workshop is going to be held by Paolo Guglielmoni: philosopher, scholar in Aesthetics and Musicology, essay writer, he’s also yoga master, clarinet player, virtual worlds inhabitant, alternative cultures connoisseur, runner, and most of all, one way geek.

Creative Director in Leo Burnett Italia, he is the only Italian creative displayed in the Louvre advertising permanent collection. Paolo created the term Geek Advertising, a subject he writes about in his blog.

“But what are we going to do in this workshop?” It won’t be just listening: at Frontiers of Interaction, you are active part of the event.

The Geek Advertising workshop will simulate an advertising agency workflow: there will be a brief and a development stage, and then you’ll present your idea to an hypotetical Creative Director (who will steal your amazing idea…)

For this reason, there is going to be a small introduction, 15 minutes of explanation about how an agency works, before the workshop starts: Paolo will tell us how a brief is conceived, how use it to extract a solid product idea, how to develop copy idea and then create the advertising.

So Paolo will pick a technology, a product and you’ll have to develop a “geek idea” related to that product.

New Format at Frontiers: Q&A sessions

matteo penzo – 04/03/2010

At Frontiers we truly believe that listening to the suggetions that come from our supporters is fundamental to emprove our event. We also deeply believe that at Frontiers people don’t have to be a passive audience, but an active part in the conference: interaction is a must!

For these reasons we decided to introduce something special in this edition of the conference: brand new sessions of Q&A, one for each keynote speaker and three for different groups of speakers.

But who could be the right person to guide the Q&A session? We’ll give you some hints:

  • a  journalist who helps innovative start ups to be more known and to meet potential industrial and financial partners,
  • founder, Ceo and author of ‘Imprese e start up – insieme per innovare’,
  • chief editor of ‘Innov’azione’, bi-monthly magazine fully dedicated to the innovation ecosystem,
  • author and organizer of ‘Percorsi dell’innovazione’, the area fully dedicated to innovative start ups within Smau, the main Italian trade show on technology.

You got it? Isn’t he an extraordinary person?

We’re talking about Emil Abirascid.

But we want to tell you even more about Emil:

He also writes about innovation and innovative start ups on

  • Wired Italia, the Italian edition of the well known US magazine,
  • Il Sole 24 Ore, the main Italian financial newspaper,
  • Intesa Sanpaolo Eurodesk’s blog, the online channel of the main Italian bank that informs enterprises on all opportunites to innovate in Europe

Emil also participates on regular basis at events, conferences, conventions about innovation nationwide and abroad.

It’s going to be great to have him guiding the Q&A session the 4th of June.

Frontiers’ Official Speakers: Antonio Citati

editorial board – 23/02/2010

We’re really intrigued to introduce you to Frontiers’ second official speaker: Antonio Citati, who will bring to our audience his expertise in super-empowering technological garnments – mash-ups between textile and minerals enhancing stability and performance, thus offering an incredibile support not only to sports professionals, but also to people affected by motor or sensory dysfunctions.

Born on 1964, Antonio studied Physics at Torino University. His initial goal was to become an Astrophysicist, but during the course of studies he was hit by the digital revolution, and he ended with moving in 1986 to Taipei to work as branch manager for an independent importer of computer and computer parts in Torino.

Getting more and more involved with the business development side, curious about different industries, convinced of the benefit of cross-cultural exchange, and ever willing to get to new countries, he changed direction and went from computers to high quality textiles, gathering experience in Italy, Hong Kong and Spain. In 2003 he joined the Dow Chemical Company, as sales manager in Southern Europe for the newly developed XLA elastic fiber, working a lot with the sport side of the textile business.

In 2007 he decided to set up a new company with some friends, to challenge the base layer sport garment field with new, innovative products: CH3 was born. CH3 produces and distributes two lines of base layers, socks and accessories, all made in polypropylene: D.Fenstec and the new S+ABILITY with an additional bio-mineral treatment that is capable of far-infrared emission.

Antonio is married with Augusta since 1992, with the blessing of 3 kids, born in ’95, ’97 and ’02.
